The term "Black Friday" dates back to the year 1869 in the United States. The term was first applied to the day after Thanksgiving on which many families went out to do their shopping after the holiday festivities. Many products that were not sold before Thanksgiving, was discounted. "Black Friday" referred to how busy the streets were with pedestrian traffic on that day.
