It was originally a stockist for baby furniture, but in 1957 they expanded this offering to include toys, and therefore started to trade under the name Toys R Us. Globally, they have 1 500 stores, but their biggest branch is in New York, USA, which includes a Ferris wheel and even a massive animatronic T-Rex.

Toys R Us South Africa was established in 1996, and has been a favourite among families ever since. Today there are 30 stores in the country, in cities such as Emalahleni, Claremont, Stellenbosch, Bloemfontein, Bethlehem and Heidelberg.
